Fergie has spoken out after being criticized

Fergie has spoken out after being criticized for her performance of the U.S. national anthem at Sunday’s 2018 NBA All-Star Game.

Fergie sang her heart out in Los Angeles, but some members of the Twitterverse were less than impressed.

However, despite the negative comments, the singer has now insisted she tried her best, even if it didn’t work out the way she planned.

The 42-year-old said in a statement obtained by ET Canada: “I’ve always been honoured and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA.

“I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”

Fergie’s comments come after viewers took to social media to poke fun at the star.

“Fergie sounds like a Bodega cat,” tweeted one user. “Worst rendition ever?” asked former NFL scout and active radio host John Middlekauff.

Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green was noticeably amused by Fergie’s singing, cracking up during the performance of the national anthem.
